They are only words......

enjoy!
Poetry, or something like it.......

Growing old....

The shadows gather round me,
While you are in the sun,
My life is almost over,
While yours has just begun,
The wind is singing to us both,
And the trees are singing still,
And they fill your heart with laughter,
But mine they cannot fill.

Lost love

Sand castles on the beach alone,
The architects have all gone home,
No-one to admire them but the sea,
The wind is king of the sandy beach,
The sun is cold, and out of reach,
And only the birds still fly free,
Amusement arcades locked and bare,
Were there really lots of people there,
A short time ago
The dodgem cars are locked away,
To live again another day,
Bumping to and fro.....

It was on this beach that we first met,
We were caught in the rain and soaking wet,
Laughing together we ran onto dry land,
You stumbled and I caught you,
And for a moment, I thought you,
Said something,
But I didn't understand.

The crashing waves of stormy waters,
Are ringing in my ears,
Like a half remembered melody,
From the grey forgotten years,
Your rhythmic beating, playing tunes,
Bringing back sweet memories to me,
Making love among the dunes,
Gazing at the sea,
The surf breaks on the jagged beach,
Where we lazed the days away,
It was on this beach that we first met......

In memory of  Katrina

you have no idea
of the destruction here
no concept of the sorrow
for you it's just another day
for some there's no tomorrow

whole towns erased
whole cities raized
the stench of death abounds
no hope left now for many
as one city slowly drowns

from Louisianne
to Alabam
the storm was so intense
so many places cease to be
the destruction is immense

London 2005

The guilty and the innocent
The hellbound and the heaven sent
They ride the train together

The pretty girl with wavy hair
The unattended luggage there
They ride the train together

The child who doesn’t understand
The sorrow that somebody planned
They ride the train together

The evil mind without a care
The horror and the despair
They ride the train together

The hope that springs eternal here
The victory over those we fear
They ride the train forever

Indifference in Iraq

things change
things move
it's strange
it's a groove
people die
people live
some lie
some give
bombs there
bombs here
you stare
you fear
it's strange
it's a groove
things change
things move

911 in Memoriam

four years now since it all got worse
four years now since osama's curse
four years now since the world changed
four years now has it seemed deranged
and in those years so many have died
and in those years so many have cried
and in those years so cruel and long
and in those years we see more wrong

Love #1

I see you smile,
And I am captured,
I see you cry,
I feel so low,
I see you laugh,
And I'm enraptured,
You hold my hand,
And my heart's aglow.
~
I love you,
With all of my being,
I love you,
With all of my might,
I will love you,
Until the sun grows cold,
And we live in eternal night.
~
I hear you call,
And I will follow,
I hear you sing,
I'll dance the tune,
And if you should ever leave me,
My life would be so empty,
Like the dark sky,
Without the moon.
~
For I love you,
With all of my being,
I love you,
With all of my might,
I will love you,
Until the sun grows cold,
And we live in eternal night.

WWII

So much has made the world a place,
Of laughter pity and disgrace,
So many of the human race,
Have perished for a dream.
~
So many people died in vain,
When a madman tried to rule again,
So many others suffered pain,
- come early to the war.
~
The Jewish nation paid the price,
Led to their deaths like timid mice,
While Winston Churchill gave advice,
- In our finest hour.
~
The trenches filled with dead men's blood,
Bone and gore where once men stood,
The living dying in the mud,
- Come early to the war.
~
A medal here, promotion there,
A smiling face, but in their stare,
Their eyes reflect a deep despair,
- In our finest hour.
~
Man and boy, father, son,
Come learn how to shoot a gun,
See the world, kill the hun,
- Come early to the war.
~
After six long years at last it ends,
Count the cost in family, friends,
How could we ever make amends,
- In our finest hour.
~
The unknown soldier, the unmarked tomb,
The fatherless child in mothers womb,
For all the dead there isn't room,
- Come early to the war.

Lonely

There's a cold wind tonight,
Cutting right through my bones,
There's a deep freeze tonight,
Turning water into stone,
And here I stand with my eyes wide open,
Waiting for the bus to come,
Just hoping,
It won't be too long.
~
There's a downpour tonight,
Stormy waters from the skies,
Raindrops fall like knives,
Dropping tears into my eyes,
And here I stand with my heart wide open,
Waiting for someone to come,
Just hoping,
They won't be too long
~
There's a cold wind,
A cold wind,
A cold wind tonight....

For Natives everywhere...

For many moons my people stayed
We were hunting people, unafraid,
No other tribe would dare to fight,
Take arms against Arapaho might.
~
Many buffalo roamed the endless plain,
Mighty herds, for few were slain,
Our chieftans lived in awesome fame,
Until the day the whiteman came
~
Howling wolf, our leader bold,
Heard of the tales that were being told
By other tribes from far away,
That whiteman only comes to slay.
~
Once many tribes lived on this land,
From the cold dark north to the rio grande,
People living hand in hand...
Apache, pawnee and the sioux,
But soon their tribes became too few,
When the whiteman came
~
And now the soldiers come with guns,
Rape our women, kill our sons,
Give us whisky, take our food,
Their minds are crazy for our blood.
~
Now you ask me to lay down my bow,
And follow the great white chief,
What makes you think i'd stoop so low,
As to listen to the words of a thief.
~
My people are strong, but their hearts are sore,
And into the flames they've stared,
The manitou says there must be war,
And no whiteman shall be spared.
~
Now hear this, oh great white chief,
In years to come you will share our grief,
This land you stole and made your own,
Was not meant for you alone.

If..

If you called me tomorrow,
Do you know where I would be,
Would I still be living,
Would I still be me?
~
If I asked you for a favour,
Would I get one in return,
Could you teach me how to laugh,
Could I ever learn?
~
If I asked you for the truth,
Would you answer with a lie,
Does everyone have feelings,
Does everybody cry?
~
If I needed sympathy,
Would you understand,
And if I needed comforting,
Would you hold my hand?
~
Why is life called living,
Why is dying death,
If I was suffocating,
Who would give me breath?
~
If you called me tomorrow,
Do you know where I would be,
Would I still be living,
Would I still be me?

Confusion

Total perfection
Or mutant rejection?
- Who led me here?
And left me alone?
A dream of childhood,
Mummy I'm being good,
Why dont you come,
Back for me?
~
A fantasy island,
I smile and,
They bring me here,
And leave me alone.
A dream of childhood,
Mummy, I'm being good
Why don't you come,
Back for me...?

Monsters

Monsters in the mind,
Nightmare sunday afternoon,
Missiles overhead,
And the day is coming soon.
~
Monsters in the ukraine,
Nightmare red balloon,
They're arming all the warheads,
And the day is coming soon.
~
The day is coming soon,
When we'll all be blown away,
Fallout, radiation,
Claim new victims everyday,
They've armed all the warheads,
And sent them out to play,
And the day is coming soon.
~
An orange mushroom cloud,
One sunday afternoon,
Will send us all to heaven,
And the day is coming soon.
~
The day is coming soon,
When we'll all be blown away,
Nuclear contamination,
Kills more people everyday.
They've armed all the warheads,
And sent them out to play,
And the day is coming soon,
Monsters in the mind,
And the day is coming soon...

Help

Won't somebody help me?
I'm losing the war,
Won't somebody tell me,
What I'm fighting for?
~
A battle ground is all I see,
My future seems so bleak,
They've made a monster out of me,
My willpower is so weak.
~
Won't somebody help me?
I'm losing the fight,
Won't somebody tell me,
If I'm wrong, or if i'm right?
~
I'm a soldier of misfortune,
I live only to die,
Don't question my intentions,
Yours not to reason why.
~
Won't somebody help me?
I'm losing the war...
Won't anybody tell me,
What I'm fighting for?

Crazy

The unsinkable sank,
The unthinkable tank,
is chieftan now,
Titanic icebergs,
Rule the waves,
While Brittania,
Is full of slaves,
It's a crazy world.
~
Inflatable sex,
And the witches hex,
Are the rages now,
The champion bull,
Has a thousand sons,
But never seen a cow,
In this crazy world.
~
Fertility rites,
And long dark nights,
- population boom,
Atomic bomb,
All the people have gone,
Have you any room
In this crazy world
~
In this crazy world,
False values rule,
Don't be too wise,
Don't be a fool,
It's a crazy world

Liberators

Many men have lived before,
And many tried to open doors,
That were closed to them,
Now we face the same routine,
We'll blast the doors with gelatine,
We'll open them.
~
In this modern, scientific age,
Where microchips are all the rage,
We can do the things we want to do,
We can do those things for me and you,
That people never dared before,
We are the ones to open doors,
We are the new conquistadores,
We are liberators.
~
And all those doors are open now,
And everybody wonders how,
We opened them,
The liberators are freeing you,
The doors open, expose their view,
We've opened them.
~
In this modern, scientific age,
Where microchips are all the rage,
We can do the things we want to do,
And we can do those things
- yes, me and you,
That people never dared to do before,
We are the ones to open doors,
We are the new conquistadores,
We are liberators.

Future?

Machinery around you,

It's sneaking up behind you,

It'll get you.

~

Nowhere left for you to hide,

It searches for you far and wide,

It'll find you.

~

Computer banks behind the scheme,

Don't close your eyes, it's not a dream,

It's programmed.

~

Mechanical, electrical,

Everyone was sceptical,

Nobody listened to me,

The microchip and teletext,

Told us it was their turn next,

But nobody listened to me.

~

Now machinery surrounds you,

The laser beam has found you,

It's got you

~

The hiding places are all found,

The few men left live underground,

They'll find them.

~

Computers tell you what to do,

It's their turn now, man's day is through,

They'll programme you.

~

Mechanical, electrical,

No-one can be sceptical,

Everybody listens to them,

Now microchip technology,

Rules the world, rules you and me,

And everybody listens to them

For someone I know....

Eight years old,

With old mans eyes,

He never laughs,

He never cries,

He knows no love,

But he knows hate,

Bitter heart,

At the age of eight.

And because of things,

That he has seen,

He knows the way,

That things will be,

Is the way,

That they have always been.

He doesn't play,

With other boys,

He doesn't have,

The kinds of toys,

That the other kids had.

He doesn't have,

A close family,

He never sits upon,

His mother's knee,

He's scared of his dad.

Eight years old,

With old man's eyes,

Far too empty,

Far too wise,

What does the future,

Hold in store,

For a child,

Who can take no more?

For Piggy, wherever you are....

I saw your other face,

While I was dancing on your tongue,

It kind of had a funny way,

Of slipping on the gun,

And thanks for the reminder,

That I can't forget to bleed,

And that I sure know how to fuck up,

Everything I need.

~

Different shades of the beast,

Appear beneath your skin

All the colours of your darkness,

All the silence of your sin,

Slipping down the stream,

As the blood drains from your head,

Down into the hole,

Where you wished that I was dead.

~

I shivered at the words,

That were twisted on your tongue,

Guess it was a shitty way,

Of having a little fun.

I guess that you were right,

That I can't forget to bleed,

What a shitty way to fuck up,

Everything I need.

That Hallmark moment.....

Thank you for your loving,

Thank you for your care,

And when I needed sympathy,

Thanks for being there.

~

Thanks for understanding,

And for always being clear,

I have a lot to thank you for,

You're a beautiful drop of beer.

For Rosa

sit down
sit down
if you're white
take a seat
stand up
stand up
if you're black
use your feet

but Rosa didn't want to stand on the bus
she didn't fight and she didn't cuss
she sat

thankyou Rosa for that.

TO A HERO (1940 - 1980)

I just sit and listen

and my eyes are never dry

and I spend the time just wishing

that you didn't have to die.

I remember all the good times

all the songs I'd heard before

and it's so hard to realise

that there won't be anymore

Forever

You'll be forever

forgotten never

never

For Someone.......

I remember when I first saw you

I

Too many times..

Too many crimes..

Against us all..

Too many die.

Too many cry.

Amongst us all..

Too many eyes.

Too many lies.

Around us all..

Too many tears.

Too many fears.

Above us all..

I fathered you

But you didnt know

I studied you

I watched you grow

You made mistakes

But I was there

I grounded you

But I was fair

I tended you

When you were ill

And when you go

I worry still

I cried with you

when you cried

I comforted you

While dying inside

OBAMA

A black man in the whitehouse?
A negro atop the heap?
How will the wasps recover?
How will the white folks sleep?

At last a man of substance!
A man of pride and worth!
A chance for a new beginning!
A political rebirth!

But you just see colour
And you just scheme and plan
Why look at things in black and white,
Why not just see a man?
